A HISTORY OF

CRASH
FOR HIM
FOR HIM
It's certainly
the year of
George
Clooney.
Voters will want
to reward him
in
some
category; I'm
guessing that
it's here.
He won the
SAG award,
which indicates
decent support
among the the
large actors'
branch.  This
will be a battle
until the night
of the show.
If there's a
vote-split
between top
contenders
George
Clooney and
Paul Giamatti,
I bet he'll be
the luckly
benficiary.
Talk about a
career-changing
performance.
He may finally
get the Oscar
love that's
eluded him
over a long,
memorable
career.
His menacing
turn as an East
Coast gangster
invigorated life
into the
already vivid "A
History of
Violence."  You
don't forget his
turn.
AGAINST HIM
AGAINST HIM
AGAINST HIM
AGAINST HIM
AGAINST HIM
He endured a
lot for the film,
but was the
performance
itself one of
the year's
best?  I'm
guessing that
many think
'no.'
For the actor
who anchored
"Sideways" and
"American
Splendor," will
he really be
remembered
for winning an
Oscar for
this
drama?
He really is a
co-lead in
many people's
eyes -- and
voters could be
too stubborn to
reward him in
this category.
It might take a
miracle.
Dillon was
decent, but I'm
still scratching
my head over
how voters
overlooked
Don Cheadle
and especially
Terrence
Howard.
He enters the
film the near
the end, and
has only a few
scenes.  Plus,
he already has
an Oscar on
his shelf.
Better to award
another.

TERRENCE HOWARD, Crash
He probably just missed -- but he definitely deserved it.

BOB HOSKINS, Mrs. Henderson Presents
The buzz here couldn't compare to that of the competition.

FRANK LANGELLA, Good Night, and Good Luck
He was probably just on the cusp -- and was certainly deserving.

DON CHEADLE, Crash
The SAG noms threw a wrench into the race with this one.

KEVIN COSTNER, The Upside of Anger
He got the best reviews he's seen in a while.

GEOFFREY RUSH, Munich
This Oscar favorite is always a possibility...but not this year.

PETER SARSGAARD, Jarhead
Worthy, but everyone stopped talking about the film.
