think that Arkin
will edge past
Murphy.

He got great
reviews, and
many critics
cited his
performance,
not Jack's, as
one of the
film's key
supporting
turns.

In the year's

competitive
category,
anyone
through slot
#10, below,
could
conceivably
make it in.

It would be
somewhat
unprecedented
for someone
with as many
precursors as
Eddie Murphy
to come up
short at the
last minute.

There are at
least three or
four
contenders on
the bubble who
have just as
good a shot as
Wahlberg to
make the
shortlist.
